Mole mapping is a way for dermatologists to compare a person’s moles over time. This is critical to patients who have had skin cancer or have a high risk of getting it. The earlier abnormal moles can be found, the better chance a person has of surviving melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer.
What to expect
Photos are taken of a patient in thirty-six (36) poses so that the entire body is pictured. The photographs are then placed in the patient’s chart for future comparison.
We will attempt to pre-authorize your mole mapping with your insurance company prior to your visit. Generally, patients with a history of melanoma are covered.
